Stitching for the Holidays

I know the first thing that springs to mind during a summer heat wave is “What can I start stitching for Christmas?” Well, at least it does for the elves at the “Nook”. Christmas fabrics, panels, patterns and books are arriving daily. Many of them are displayed in our pattern room along with the models we currently have done. There is a really cute Debbie Mumm panel and of course Deb Strain has a wonderful line of fabric from MODA. We also have the new Nancy Halvorsen panel and fabric line from Benartex and of course, the new book that accompanies it. Frosted Memories from MODA and a new Kansas Troubles line round out the plate —for now!

Anita Goodesign has a new Santa scene and the model is stitched out and on display. The design comes out in July, bugift centert we are taking orders now and this might also be a class in the fall. The elves have really been busy and have set up a quick gift display with lots of kits and quick and easy ideas for that homemade gift. Homemade gifts are always great because I think most people realize that a gift that required time and thought to create is worth more than a big box store gift card. Be sure to come take a look and get the jump on Christmas.

Speaking of come take a look– the Stars Over Indiana Shop Hop Quilt is currently hanging in our front window and it is a beauty. The setting and quilting were done courtesy of Lindsey Brubaker and the quilting was done on her Mega-Quilter! It’s really beautiful. The Shop Hop begins July 10th and runs through July 18th. For details, passports, pins and inspiration, call the Stitching Nook at 765-962-7678. We’ve stepped into the 21st century and now have a voice mail system, so call anytime and we’ll be sure to respond!

IMG_0295While I was talking about new things at the store I forgot to mention that Halloween fabric is also arriving and the little demons have been making models to show it off. You notice I’m not mentioning any names here… There are really cute but not really spooky prints and they would be great for trick or treat bags or to quickly jazz up a sweatshirt. Be sure to notice the towels Diana has been stitching up–very cool!

As you can see the Stitching Nook is a “happenin place” and there is always something going on–if it ever gets boring, you can count on one of the “I work for fabric and machines” ladies to liven things up. We’ll be glad to help with projects, answer questions (correctly, we hope) and to show you what’s new in our wonderful world of quilting. We’re all gadget lovers and we’re happy to share our obsession with others.

Until next time, happy stripping!
