I can’t believe it’s August!

Hi Everyone!

We had a wonderful Christmas in July and thanks to all of you who participated. Hope you enjoyed Diana’s demos. I know I got several good ideas for quick gifts. I’m really enjoying the Anita Goodesign “in the hoop” projects.

It’s hard to believe that August is here already. It hardly seems like summer since the weather has been so cool. Hope it doesn’t get hot when everyone goes back to school. Anyway, it’s time to talk about the upcoming classes in Aug. and you can turn back to the calendar for details and pictures.

Nature’s Palette is an all-day workshop on Aug. 4th and there are still some spots available. This is an easy class and there will be an optional follow-up class on Aug.18th for those of you not sure about the applique elements.

Lone Star will begin on Aug. 8th from 1-4pm. This class will use Quilt-Smart fusible interfacing to help make this intricately pieced quilt much easier. It’s really foolproof.

Aug. 11th on the calendar is called the Mystery Purse Workshop and it is a mystery no longer! The pattern is a down-load from the internet and is really cute. We have cut kits for the purse as well–so if you don’t like to choose fabrics we have you covered. The purse model is currently in the Store window.

Stacked Mariner’s Compass is on the 15th and seating is limited so if you’re interested –better get signed-up! This quilt is very easy and involves little piecing but lots of applique. Fun and easy to pick up and put down.

Aug. 19 or 22nd, will be Curved Piecing and with the templates available and Diana’s capable instruction, it’s easy to make perfect curves. No pinning, stretching or cursing involved!

So you see, that even as the summer session of classes draws to a close, we are still doing fun classes and the sewing and living is easy. We are working on our fall schedule and Diana has the whip out to get us all in gear. Actually, we have some great classes planned and we’re all pretty excited about them.

New fabric racks have arrived so be watching for changes in the store’s appearance and literally tons of new fabric is scheduled to arrive in the month of Aug. so we’ll be keeping you posted on that! It’s always fun to go to work because there’s always something new going on at the Nook. Stop in and look around–and don’t forget to say “Hi”.

Until next time,

Mary
