Christmas is coming-sooner than we think
Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! I know I did, but I’m still trying to recuperate from the turkey induced trytophan stupor I’ve been in all weekend.
And just like that, the Christmas season is officially here. It’s time to think about the gifts for each of the people on the list and this year, many of mine will home-made. The girls are getting “glam-bags” with gift cards in them and even the little girls will get one with a few age-appropriate cosmetics and scents inside. The guys all like pillowcases and of course, everyone has his or her favorite quilt already picked out. Pumpkin bread is a big deal around here and I make it using my mom’s recipe. What I’m trying to say is that Christmas is more about memories and making memories than about the amount of money spent. Or at least it should be. You all still have lots of time to make some gifts and we have some finishing days on the schedule to help you get done. But whatever you do, take a few minutes to enjoy the season and revel in the good stuff because gosh-darn it, life is short.
Nancy Halvorsen from Art to Heart has a new book out and it is called “Sew Necessary”. The book is just charming with lots of scissor fobs, chatelaines and thread catchers. Also some sewing baskets and needle cases and on and on and on. We have the book at the store and I am avidly working on some models. Too cute and these would make great gifts for the other sew-ers in your life. (Don’t forget yourself!)
We have a new line from MODA . It is reproductions from Barbara Brackman. Next year is the 150th anniversary of the Civil War and there are many fabric lines commemorating this event. Even for those of us not head over heels about reproductions, this is a really pretty line. Stop in and take a look–get inspired–not tired!
Enough for now, I have some elf work to get busy about. Hope you all enjoy the Season and treat yourselves to some quality time. Until next week,
Mary
