Heat Wave Jan.16

Hi Ho Everyone,

We’re havin’ a heat wave–a tropical heat wave……. It sure seems like it after the last couple of weeks. Now if we could just manage a little sunshine.

Things are heating up at the Nook also. (nice segue didn’t you think?) We got some new batiks from Moda in last week and there’s a rumor that a lot more are due in this week. Never met a batik I didn’t like. Classes are starting to take off and life is getting back to normal. By the way, all our fabric reps have been making the rounds and we have been ordering next year’s Christmas fabric! Some, no make that all, of it is really neat. I realize that “neat” in this context is over-used but so is “cute”, “awesome” and every other word commonly used to describe new fabric. Perhaps I should say it’s Christmasy to the max.

I’m going to mention again that sewing is a great stress reliever and also a way to take your mind off the horrifying events in the news. I know that there is nothing in the line of quilts or sewn items that we can send to Haiti at this time, but don’t forget that the needs of local charities are no less today than they were before the earthquake. With that in mind, check out the pillowcase project being sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens. The Nook will take part in this and all pillowcases received will stay in the Richmond area. This is a worthy cause and one you can feel good about as well. Get the details at the Nook, and I will give more details in upcoming blogs.

Enough for now, remember to give thanks for all the things we take for granted and give your sewing machine a nice pat on the head for all the work it does.

Happy sewing,

Mary
