Happiness! 7-18-10

HI Everyone,

Gee, I’m enjoying the bright sunshine and gentle warmth of this summer’s sun. Not. Right now it’s raining and hot and, of course, this brings on the frizzies!! Hope the rest of you are enjoying it though. Perfect weather for sewing in blessed air-conditioning and slurping some iced tea. While enjoying said air-conditioning in the “meat locker” as my husband refers to the house, (apparently I have it a tad cool for him) I find it’s a good time to do a little Christmas gift planning. Maybe I do have it a little cool, anyway, we have a lot of Christmas fabric coming in and some cute, cute, Halloween. Time to start thinking about the fat man and the gifts you’ll be handing out in his name. There are a lot of nice purse patterns coming in and also little zippy bags to put in your purse. Good for make-up or tissues or coins or other things. My daughter and grand-daughters have already picked out a couple that they’ve seen at the store. The nice thing is, these are quickies that can be made from stash or left-overs. By the way, we have a lovely line of zippers now that work perfectly in these bags. Just thought I’d mention it.

For those of you who hopped and shopped, we still have finishing kits for our quilt and we also have the fabrics on the bolt if you want to make an entirely different quilt. I think those fabrics would make a lovely Orion’s Star or Log Cabin just to name two. Our bedroom is just off the living room and I enjoy putting a Christmas quilt on the bed. People do see it, but more importantly we see it every day until New Year’s and it just helps put us in the mood. I still like Christmas, and I am resolved this year to enjoy it for the right reasons and to try to dump the things about the season that annoy me–like all the commercials and the worry of trying to ensure that everyone in the family has a great Christmas. This year they’re on their own. I finally concede that their happiness is not up to me. It’s a choice they’ll have to make.

So, choose to be happy and know that we at the Nook do our best every day to make your sewing experience a pleasant one. Look forward to lots of new classes in the fall. Diana and I are off to Viking Convention soon and hopefully, we’ll come home with lots of new ideas, new machines (no new top of the line) and plans for much more fun to be had. Can’t wait.

Oh, by the way, another surprise in a couple of weeks and you’ll all be so happy.

TTFN,

Mary
