Greetings fellow quilters,
Wow, what a great Fall day. We went for a long drive in the woods and it was wonderful! I wish these sunny days would last forever, but Fall leaves bring Winter ice and snow. It doesn’t rhyme I know, but all too true.
There’s still time to make a wonderful fall quilt and keep those great colors around through the winter. Although, the deep greens and burgundies are beautiful as well. What can I say, I just like color and fabric. Thus the reason for stash and day-dreaming.
Things will be a little quieter at the Nook this week. We’ve finished our quilt shows and even cleaned up our messes. Ah, routine and boredom, seriously under-rated in my opinion. Of course this week, it looks like I’m finally going to have to put away my sandals. I just can’t sell Diana on the idea of toe-socks and sandals for the winter. Some blah-blah about professional appearance and not being a laughing-stock in the community. You’ll have to come by to see who wins, but I wouldn’t place any bets.
Happy stitching and I’ll see you soon.

Hello All
Had a great time over the weekend at the Greenville Quilt Show. It was a great show with beautiful quilts. If you didn’t make it this year, be sure to mark your calendar for 2012. The show has been going on for 30 yrs. and its evident that they know how to do it well.
I love this time of year, the colors are beautiful and the temps are just about right. Fall has it all–color, texture, taste and aroma. The only bad thing about it, is that it doesn’t last as long as winter. Anyway, enjoy it while it lasts and use the trees as inspiration for a new quilt.
We have more of the “Ghastlies” back in the store!!! We have the original version (and you know we gave them all names!). Now we have a new one as well. The “Ghastlies” at home. It’s great and I’m already working on a story line for them. What fun!! Come take a look and see if you can guess who’s who.
My sewing machine is missing me, so its off to work and I think I hear a caramel apple whispering sweet nothings to me……. Have a great week and I’ll see you soon.

Hello All,
Didja see that frost this morning. It’s time now for all the dire predictions about the upcoming terrible winter. All I can say is, have lots of patterns and fabrics (from the Nook of course,) stacked up and ready to go for the days you can’t or don’t want to get out!! Seriously, after all the hot this summer a little cool is a nice change.
Hatched in Africa put on a wonderful show on Thurs. Their models were really inspiring and I love the site for blanks. I think Diana will be looking into handling some of these. The runners and pillow tops are lovely. The store will become a dealer for their embroideries—so get ready to start stitchin’!! By the way, thanks to all of those who hung with us during the power outage on Thurs. night. Santii mentioned several times that we had wonderful patrons and what a pleasure it was to do a program for you. Needless to say, we heartily agree.
If you’re looking for an excuse to get out the house and see a little color next weekend, you might check-out the annual Greenville quilt show. “Harvest of Quilts” will be presented on Fri. and Sat. of next week. It will be held at the fairgrounds from 9-7 on Fri. and 9-5 on Sat. There will be over 200 Quilts, Vendors (including us), food, demo’s and an auction on Sat. at 2:00. It’s always a fun time and you’ll be fired up with lots of new ideas. The raffle quilt for this year was donated by The Stitching Nook.
There is a new line of Kansas Trouble fabric coming in late Oct. and a new Maywood line scheduled to arrive any day. Always something new to look forward to!! I think that’s why quilters are such interesting and upbeat people–we’re never bored and our machines don’t talk back. Although between us, I sometimes think mine purrs when my blocks are turning out just so.
TTFN and pieceful sewing,
Mary

Hello All
Gee, its been a long time., but Michigan waters were calling my name and I had to go. Fantastic as always!! Wading in Lake Superior in late Sept. is slightly dicey though. There was this one seagull that I’m pretty sure wanted to come home with me but Pete was pretty firm about no new pets….
Today I’m cleaning out my sewing room and am amazed that one person can accumulate so much stuff. Not only that, but I had forgotten the color of the carpet. Looks like a new room and I won’t be afraid to go in there. The stacks were getting pretty high!
Hope you’re all signed up for the various classes and events that you want to attend. I couldn’t believe how things had filled up when I got home. I think we’re all going to have a fun and productive Fall. I think I’ve given you all the news I have for now, but I know things are about to start popping and getting really interesting. See you soon.

Hi Ho All,
What a nice rain, and who says the fireworks are cancelled? I watched them off and on all night! To paraphrase Garrison Keiller, it has been a quiet week at the Stitching Nook. The calm before the storm I suspect. We’ve seen lots of Show and Tell this week and its always wonderful to see your finished projects! I have to say that I think we have awfully talented quilters in the area.
We are excitedly working on new projects. We have some Stonehenge fabrics now and also jelly rolls to go with them. A new line of Kansas Troubles will be arriving next month. So, as I said, we’re keeping busy and gearing up for a great fall. If you have wonderful ideas for a class for the next schedule, be sure to share them with us via e-mail or at the store and we can implement them.
Pieceful sewing until next time, (TTFN),
Mary
