Beginner’s Piecing Class

The premise of this beginning quilt-making workshop is that if you can learn to sew a few basic units, those units can be combined into an infinite number of traditional quilt blocks.  Starting with the basic nine-patch, we’ll progress through the half-square triangle, quarter-square triangle and square-in-a-square.  You’ll leave the class with a small wall hanging or table runner.  Color and fabric selections will be explored during the first session.  **Supply list available at time of registration.  Participants should have some sewing experience.

Joyce Ponder, Oxford, Ohio has been designing and creating quilts for over 15 years.  Her quilts have been exhibited at the Greater Hamilton Art Exhibit and the American Quilter’s Society exhibit in Paducah, Kentucky.  Joyce also teaches quilt-making in Miami University’s Craft Summer and ILR programs.

Fee of $45.00 covers all 4 sessions

New “Diamond” Sewing Machine Classes

There are so many new, wonderful features on your Diamond.  We have complete class outlines with handouts of several projects that will help you learn more about all the exciting features of you new machine.  A few topics are on sewing, but most are on the embroidery features.  Some classes will require you to bring supplies, for some we’ll supply a kit.  For class #1: bring your machine and 4-6 spools of sewing thread that will look good on denim.

Can’t attend the classes?  We’ll be happy to supply you with the printed materials if you request.

Classes   Mondays at 2pm or 6pm-Sept, 15 & 29, Oct. 6 & 29

Classes   Saturdays at 1:30pm -Sept. 13 & 27, Oct. 11 & 25

Let’s go “green” re-usable shopping bags

I hate all those plastic bags that you get everywhere!  So, I love the idea of a re-usable fabric shopping bag, but you need to remember to bring them with you whenever you go shopping. This fold-up bag is so easy to make and convenient to use. You can stash the wallet sized bag in your purse and have it ready whenever you go to the store.  There is also a larger bag that you can use for those quick stops at the grocery store.

Ask for supply list at time of registration.

Instructor-Diana   Fee of $15.00 includes instruction and 2 printed patterns.

Wednesday September 17th at 10am-3pm   (We’ll repeat this class in October)

Free Motion Machine Quilting

Free motion quilting is not hard and there are just a few rules.  So, we’ll cover all the basics: batting, layering, basting and marking the designs on your quilt.  There is no finished project in this class. We will provide a kit with practice fabrics and batting.  Then you’ll go home and practice, practice, practice……..

Bring your machine with darning/free motion quilting foot and manual if necessary.  Be sure that your machine is in good working condition.    Instructor: Mary Moffett    Fee $15.00
