      sampler 2010

The 2010 Sampler–Lecture/demo quilt  is made with a new gadget,  called an “Add-on” that you simply attach to you own ruler and it takes the math out of squares, triangles, and rectangles!  There is no pattern to buy, just the “Add-on Set” which incldes the patterns to make many blocks.  You’ll be amazed at how fast and easy this is!  We will  usually meet on the second Thursday and Saturday of each month.

Thursday,   August 12  at 1:30 or 6pm

Saturday,  August 14  at 9am

This beautiful quilt made of reproduction fabrics is for the intermediate to advanced quilter.  We will make 12, 15,  and 18 ” blocks, plus a 36″ center medallion; 38 blocks in all!  We’ll meet in January, to look over the patterns, select fabrics and talk about construction. Then meet in February for our first lecture/demo class.  If you’re looking for challenge, come take a look at these blocks.  Purchase the patterns monthly for $5.00, or save some money, and purchase them all at once for $48.00.  There is NO charge for the demo.

Foot of the Montfoot of the monthh-Quilt

OK, you bought that wonderful sewing machine with all those decorative stitches and fascinating feet that you’ve never used.  Each month you’ll make a different block using a different foot and decorative stitches.  You’ll finally get to try out those stitches and feet and you’ll end up with a quilt.  Sounds like a win-win to me.  If you want all your background material to be the same, you should buy it before the first class, otherwise you can buy fat quarters monthly. Instructor—Mary    Fee is $10/month for class and patterns

Monday:    August 30 @1-4pm

 Hop To It-Applique

hop to it  For those of you who love the look of hand applique, but hate the process–you must try this method created by Edyta Sitar.  We had to look twice to see that it was done on the machine.  Not only that–it’s fun!  We’ll even kit the blocks for you- so it couldn’t be easier.  Instructor Mary

American Beauty
This will be a block of the month program featuring the beautiful Maywood fabric “Wild Roses”. The pattern is by Marti Michell and the blocks are really fun to make. The blocks do require a Plexiglas template set that you will cut out using your rotary cutter. I know template is a dirty word, but I will show you very easy ways to use them and the plus side is a perfectly shaped and sized block.  These blocks are not especially quick to make but are certainly not hard.  This however, would not be a project for someone who has never before made a quilt.  Come on, try something new and expand your quilting abilities.  I promise you’ll have fun.   Instructor: Mary  We have the fabric for the “black” version

Tuesdays, July 20, August 31 29 1:30 or 6pm

 Open Sewing Sessions

We know you have un-finished projects at home!  We hear you say  that you can’t start anything NEW until you complete some of them–so, we’ll open the classroom with all of the necessary tools and machines.  You bring in your bag of UFOs and sew-sew-sew!  We’ll be available to help you, but there will be NO actual instructor for the day.  Charge will be $10 for the day.
